ADHD is a term that refers to a neuro-developmental disorder that impacts one’s abilities related to attention, hyperactivity, concentration, impulsivity, self-regulation and/or organization. Some individuals may struggle with hyperactivity and/or impulsivity while others struggle with concentration and attention, while some may experience challenges within both areas.
The goal of this assessment is to determine if a client meets the criteria for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A range of standardized assessment tools as well as questionnaires, file review, interviews and observations are completed to provide a comprehensive overview of one’s attentional functioning, including one’s inhibition, impulsivity, hyperactivity, working memory and executive functioning.
Often clients who are diagnosed with ADHD exhibit an unique cognitive and learning profile, which may also include specific challenges related to reading, written language, mathematics, working memory and executive functioning, all of which may impact the way they learn, achieve and experience success.
