Intellectual Disability is a term that refers to limitations within one’s cognitive and adaptive functioning abilities. Typically one has significant challenges related to problem solving, learning, memory, processing information as well as completing tasks of daily living (i.e. household tasks, financial management, self-care, etc.)
The goal of this assessment is to identify one’s cognitive, academic and adaptive functioning abilities. Such information will help to determine if a client meets the diagnostic criteria for an Intellectual Disability, as well to identify specific strategies, programs and community resources that may best help the client.
