Utilizing her combined skill set as a school psychologist and former educator, she specializes in providing psycho-educational and psycho-diagnostic assessments for children, adolescents and adults who have a range of complex learning needs.
She has been involved with the Peel District School Board’s Psychology Department since 2013 and has worked in multiple private practices since 2017. In 2021 she started her own private practice with the goal of providing assessments that are of the highest quality and to provide individualized recommendations to help each client achieve optimal success.
Prior to becoming a school psychologist, her career began with the Toronto District School Board where she worked as a Special Education Teacher, teaching students with learning, developmental, physical and behavioural needs as well as being a member of the Neuro-Developmental Team at the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, supporting students with a wide range of neuro-developmental exceptionalities.
She also gained extensive experience as a vice-principal in two large schools, where she was responsible for all aspects of Special Education Programming, including the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
In addition, she taught special education courses to educators at Queen’s University and at the Ontario Institute For Studies in Education, University of Toronto (OISE/UT).
Dr. Borthwick is known for her warmth, compassion and sensitivity. Serving from Oakville to West Toronto, her mission is to provide exemplary assessment and consultation services to every client.
